About us

At Fit and Healthy Mums we believe in celebrating all things female! Being a Mum is the hardest job on the planet, especially in today’s fast moving and pressurised society. Our aim is to empower, educate, motivate and inspire women to keep active, promote healthy lifestyles and promote positive well being.

We know that the body and mind, are amazing and we appreciate how pregnancy, labour and the postnatal years feel as we are all mums ourselves.

At Fit and Healthy Mums we know that each of you are unique, and we treat you and your baby as such. Every Mum has their own story to tell, and we positively encourage you to do that with other Mums in all of our sessions.

We offer community based classes that are fun and friendly where everyone is welcome. We firmly believe that every Mum should have the opportunity to feel better about themselves, feel stronger and more confident.

Meet The Team

Keri Young – Founder of Fit and Healthy Mums.

In 2012, after the birth of my third child I felt that I wanted to return to the world of ‘work’ having taken a career break from Finance and Retail Marketing. I had enjoyed many groups with my children and wanted to give something back to the local community, I wanted a flexible approach to work and to find something fun, social and rewarding. So I re-trained, took on a single buggyfit class with just a few Mums in the park once a week, with my little one in tow!

I enjoyed exercising prior to the birth of my children, using the gym, running and attending various classes including Zumba and Spin. Now I have added HIIT sessions, bike rides with the children and high impact aerobics too! Exercise was always my ‘me time’ and I feel so much better for being active.

When I was pregnant I found the advice and information conflicting and confusing.  I found myself not exercising as much as I wanted to as over researching online, I found lots of  ‘not recommended’  in pregnancy  so subsequently reduced my activity levels ‘just in case’. I gained more weight than I wanted to and didn’t maintain my fitness levels, I had to work hard to get back to where I started.

Fit and Healthy Mums was ‘born’ from a need to offer the correct help, advice and guidance to women in a non-judgemental environment. Many of my clients will tell you that this project is my 4th child as I feel passionately that the local community benefits from these services. Each and every service we offer and every class that is available all started from client suggestions and this community has naturally developed into something much larger, and relied upon by local women.

Jenny King – Business Partner

I have been teaching gymnastics to children and adults for over 18 years now and when my own little bundle came along, I felt a change was in order. I was attending Keri's Pilates and buggyfit classes and was keen to be involved with her clearly popular and professional sessions that were always fun, friendly and welcoming. I have also attended bootcamp and have enjoyed the mix of exercise and the variety of sessions on offer.

My experience with flexibility and strength training in gymnastics lends itself brilliantly to the pre and post natal classes we offer. Having enjoyed the baby massage course with Charlie, I am excited to introduce this to other families along with Mum and Baby Yoga classes. I will also be teaching Pilates to pre and postnatal women and working with small groups and individual clients. I am looking forward to working with you all and meeting your own lovely little ones.

Meet The Team

Monica Paulch – Pre and Postnatal Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer

I have always been passionate about exercise, this has mostly stemmed from growing up and training as an alpine ski racer and racing internationally for Great Britain. At 18 I was ranked 8th in Britain in Downhill. In order to train for skiing, I would cross train with many other sports during my off season.

An ankle injury (from falling down stairs), resulted in the decision to go to university and study Human Biology and Sport and Exercise Science. One of the highlights of my course was working in both a neurological and a cardiac rehabilitation centre. I loved guiding people through an exercise program, motivating them to achieve their goals and seeing how much exercise could enhance someone's life.

After graduating I become a qualified Personal Trainer with a Pre and Postnatal exercise specialism. I have taught a range of clients from all walks of life with differing backgrounds in sport and exercise in both classes and individually.

I am a qualified ski coach and I still Coach for a local club and the English Schools Ski Association. This has enabled me to be a part of the coaching team to take 20 England athletes to the World Schools Championships.

I was lucky enough to become a Mum in July 2016 and did everything possible to keep healthy throughout my pregnancy then restarted exercise as soon as it was safe to by joining  buggyfit and bootcamp with Keri.

I loved attending classes with Fit and Healthy Mums as it was a great way to meet other local women and be able to improve my fitness again. I am very pleased to have joined the team to give other Mums the wonderful fitness experience I was lucky to have.
